A Rainy Day

Yes, the rain is pouring outside but at least it isn't snowing. That mere fact alone gives me hope for warmer days ahead. I've been mulling over sewing patterns, looking for something to keep me busy.

This lady Vanessa is a great teacher. She has several projects I'm looking at.
I thought you'd enjoy her tutorials too.

This is a tutorial on how to make an envelope pillow cover. It's so easy!

This cute little drawstring bag is easy too!

A Nice Day

Ray and I had a nice day today. We got out and both got our hair done. He got a nice cut and I got a perm. Speaking to the hair dresser, it occurred to me that I hadn't had a perm in my hair since the eighties. I thought I was well over due so I pampered myself. I think we all should do that once in awhile.

I designed and made a new summer bag this past week. Here's a few pics of it.

I used old jean denim for stability, a pretty cotton print for the outside and muslin for the inside lining. It should hold everything I need to carry.

A Valentine's Day Surprise

Ray surprised me with these roses yesterday evening.

They have been knocked over once by an unknown furry suspect, but no harm was done as it was caught quickly. They've been moved to several different locations around the house for safe keeping, but with multiple cats in the house, safe places are hard to find.

Hints of Spring

Ray and I have seen several robins on the lawn this past week. Those feathered harbingers of spring always send my spirits soaring.
Can't wait to see those buds on the trees too. Seems as though all the trees fill with leaves within two nights once those buds appear on them.

This has been a hard winter for everyone and every thing it seems. Even the cats are looking haggard from the cold. I've made them all boxes filled with blankets and holes cut in the sides for them to run in and out of. They enjoy staying in them and out of the wind.

I've decided to plant some flower seeds and tomato plants and relax this spring. I'll keep Ray and Reverend Smith in lemonade while they mow and enjoy the scent of fresh cut grass.

The Flu

Even though he got a flu shot, Ray got another strain of the flu last week and now I have it too.

Didn't realize your sides could get sore from blowing your nose so much, but it's true.
I highly recommend "Puffs Plus" tissues. The added lotion sure saves your nose from the tissue burn, but if you use anything else and your nose gets raw, don't put any "Vicks Vapo Rub" on it. It will burn like fire. I found that out the hard way.
"Halls" cherry cough drops are pretty good at opening up your sinuses but then you'll use that box of tissues up in no time.

After shutting your nose completely with swelling and congestion, this strain then moves to your chest for a shot at shutting down your breathing there too.

I'm on my fourth day of this viral invasion, and although I've kept my meals on time to keep my strength up, I'm still pretty weak.

I have an appointment with my new doctor this week so if I'm not better perhaps he can give me something to help.

I've been entertaining myself on my new computer playing games on Big Fish Games
You can try their games out for free for an hour to see if you like them before you buy them. I'm playing Bird's Town right now.

It's a marble popper game that's fun when you don't feel like doing much.

I'm sure I'll get to feeling better in a few more days.
