Your pictures are really fantastic! The weather this summer has been cool, cloudy and quite wet with very strong winds so the tomatoes have not done well and neither have the plants. Ah well! There's always next year!
Hopefully next year will be better here too. The weather prevented us from setting out much this year. It rained too long in the early spring. We're going to put in raised garden beds for next year with netting to keep the cats out.
They're called by different names. Some called them garden spiders, writing spiders and in Virginia they call them zipper spiders because of the zipper look in their webs. They're harmless but they've gotten huge around here with all the grasshoppers. They're a big help in the garden eating pests.
