Dangerous Dogs

We have a neighbor who doesn't care what it means to be a good one. He owns a pack of three dogs that have become, not only a nusiance, but a danger to others. We called the police saturday morning when they threatened our neighbor across the street. The dispatcher said he'd see if he had an officer available, but no one ever came. I did get some pics of what he went through.

In the last pic he was picking up gravel to defend himself.

He was across the street from the neighbor who owns the dogs and yelled for the owner to call off his dogs, but the neighbor never came out.

On November 2, 2010, the dogs threatened a woman with a small child walking down the street. You can't see the child with her as she's being hidden by the bushes.

Again the owner never did a thing.

On November 1, 2010, they threatened another neighbor walking down the road.

Again the neighbor did nothing to help that man.

They carry their owner's garbage to our yard and littler it daily.

Again the neighbor does nothing about that either.
I know now why we have so many laws. The ignorant need to be made to be good neighbors.

  1. I am a true dog lover - but being a dog owner comes with responsibility. That means keeping your dogs on your own property and under control. This is dangerous for the dog owner as well as the people walking by... Do you have other neighbors that are upset about the situation too? If so maybe you both could log a complaint. Just my 2 cents...

  2. Hi Robin!

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Your neighbour wouldn't get away with ignoring the problems his dogs are causing if he were here. Even if the dogs didn't bite anyone it would only take a couple of complaints and he would be ordered to keep them under control and if there were more complaints after that then he could face prosecution.
There's no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad dog owner. I like dogs but only when they are obedient and well controlled. This man should be banned from keeping animals if he can't show them respect and keep them under control for their sakes and for the sake of the public.
Perhaps Robin's Roost is right and maybe if you and other neighbours who have been affected got together and gave a petition to the appropriate authorities that have the power to do something then the problem could be solved.

  3. I've made some calls and got some numbers. The dog warden around here doesn't return calls nor does he do his job. I have now got the number of his boss. If the dog warden doesn't return my call today, I'll be calling his boss. If that doesn't work, I will get together with other neighbors at the next neighborhood watch meeting.

  5. Hi Rosemi!

Thank you for the gentle reminder. It's easy to let anger take over. Counting to ten now and asking for forgiveness for past bad thoughts.
    Hugs :)
